Overview

The town assessor is a local government official who estimates the value of real property within a city’s boundaries for tax assessment purposes. This valuation, called the assessed value, is a key factor in determining a property owner’s tax liability. The village assessor also maintains property records, track ownership, and administer property tax exemptions.
